SYLA Solar Launches On-site PPA BusinessPromoting Decarbonization in the Eel Farming Industry

SYLA Solar Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Nagoya, Aichi; CEO: Takeshi Fuchiwaki; hereinafter "SYLA Solar"), a wholly owned subsidiary of SYLA Technologies Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Hiroyuki Sugimoto; NASDAQ "SYT"), operator of the largest membership real estate crowd-funding platform in Japan, Rimawari-kun, launched an on-site PPA* business for Hiranuma Suisan Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and CEO: Takayuki Hiranuma, hereinafter "Hiranuma Suisan"), a land-based eel farmer.

On-site PPA Project for Hiranuma Suisan
Through the on-site PPA* project initiated by SYLA Solar, solar-generated electricity will be supplied to Hiranuma Suisan’s land-based eel aquaculture farm in Uesato-cho, Kodama-gun, Saitama Prefecture. Hiranuma Suisan, which engages in eel cultivation using a closed recirculating aquaculture system, as well as processing and selling eels, has faced the challenge of reducing its annual electricity costs. This initiative aims to address that issue by allowing the farm to switch a portion of its electricity consumption from the conventional power grid to on-site solar power at zero initial cost, leading to anticipated savings on electricity expenses.

The on-site PPA model provides companies with the benefits of solar power generation without any financial burden, including installation and maintenance. For Hiranuma Suisan, this means significantly lower energy costs and a reduced environmental footprint.

SYLA Solar is dedicated to building sustainable, prosperous communities by integrating renewable energy with smart fisheries, supporting decarbonization, and enhancing productivity in various industries, including eel farming.

*On-site PPA (Power Purchase Agreement): A system where the power producer (SYLA Solar) installs, owns, and maintains solar power generation facilities on the premises of the electricity consumer (Hiranuma Suisan) at the producer's expense. The electricity generated by these facilities is then supplied directly to the customer.
